Challenge

Hello to all, on this page you will find our weekly service project challenge that I was telling you about. As I was telling you it has been on my heart lately that I don't reinforce this enough with my children and I want them to have a servants heart and understand why we help others. I am very lucky to have two beautiful children and with my oldest little monkey who is five and in kinder I always thought that she was a bit different in the way that she never gets attached to anything, sometimes that can be very bad because she don't care if things get destroyed but I am finding more and more that it has been a really good thing. Because she is not attached to anything she would give you the shirt she was wearing if you told her you didn't have one. It has also given me many opportunities to talk with her about helping others, when we go through and give her clothes she can't wear to friends and give toys she doesn't play with to other children and it is not a fight with her it is a good experience for us as a whole. I do have other friends who if you told them we were giving this toy to a child who has nothing they would cry and throw a fit and be completely heart broken to have to give it away, not because they are spoiled or anything because they are not my any stretch of the imagination that is just that particular child's way of feeling so I am very blessed to have a daughter who loves to help others already. Then I have a four year old son wait did I say four I meant three (he is almost four). He is very easy going neither here nor there with everything but I want to teach him why we help others not that if we do we do and if we don't we don't.

Okay that being said and you knowing my children very well now, I am going to be posting a weekly challenge for you and your family to do. A service project could be as simple as mailing a special card or baking something and taking it to someone. All the same it will be about serving others. Also some weeks I will post a separate challenge for you and then one for your little ones as well. If you participate I would love for you to drop a comment by and let us know what you did for the week and how you and your children

Mark 10:44-45

English Standard Version (ESV)
44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

WEEK 1 Challenge:
We will start off easy so anyone who wants to can jump right in here and serve with us.
Moms: Choose one person in your life who maybe you feel is going through something now. (don't ask them what they are going through). Choose a special card with scripture and words of encouragement or make one for them and mail it or deliver it to their door. The key to this is to just quietly give them encouragement without prying into their life and what there problems are. As women we love to talk talk talk that is just our nature (well most of us). This is an opportunity to be there for a person without making them feel intruded upon and for them to receive the Lord's comfort with feeling as though it is pushed at them because you know even as Christians when we are not walking right there with the lord when someone pushes him at you you won't always listen.
Kiddos: Have them choose a person in their class, or if you home school maybe their co-op or at church. and have them make a special card. Help them to choose an age appropriate scripture to include into the card. Also this gives you a teachable moment to discuss the scripture you chose. Have them deliver the card or maybe just stick it in their cubby at school for them to find. We also as mother's want to teach our children that we don't have to be loud and vocal for the Lord's work to be done.

I hope that you enjoy this challenge this week and will share some of your time doing it with us. I will post later this week about what my kids thought and some of the things we did. Also please know this sharing time is not about us but what the Lord is doing through us! Because we are the church and we must go and do!! Have a great week everyone.
